On to Horecava: Bas Buiten on innovations and challenges in the hospitality market.

Meet our exhibition team!

The end of the year is approaching, and that means not only that we are about to usher in 2025, but also that Horecava 2025 is coming up - the place where the hospitality industry comes together for inspiration and innovation. One of the top members of our exhibition team is Bas Buiten, also one of our newest additions within Bunzl Foodservice!

Bas, can you briefly introduce yourself?

"Obviously. My name is Bas Buiten and I have been working as an account manager at Bunzl Foodservice for two months. My focus is on the Northeast Netherlands region and on the complete range of all the products we offer. As a result, I see all kinds of segments, from hotels to theme parks."

And what trends and developments have you seen in your work recently?

"Although I have not been with Bunzl Foodservice for very long, I have already had the opportunity to visit some customers and see a few things. For example, SUP legislation is starting to play an increasing role. In some smaller organisations, this is still less of an issue, but it is interesting to discuss these kinds of topics. For many clients, there is still quite a lot unclear about sustainability and legislation, which is where I try to support them."

Do you also see this as one of the bigger challenges in the market?

"Absolutely, but it is also about a bit of awareness. Many customers are not (yet) so much aware of what is actually possible with us. It's nice to build a customer relationship and be able to show them that they can get their products from a single party."

Is this also something you would like to promote at Horecava?

"Definitely! Working with such a diverse customer base and wide product range is sometimes challenging, but also a lot of fun. From printed packaging to cleaning products: you name it. So much is possible that I often discover something new myself. It is great to learn more and more this way. I don't just want to sell, but also advise and think along with the customer. Visitors to Horecava can come to us for all their non-food questions. Come along, have a cup of coffee, and discover with us the next step in the world of non-food."

After having a cup of coffee and a good chat on our stand, what do you hope visitors take away with them?

"I hope visitors will see what we are good at as Bunzl Foodservice. It is no longer necessary to order from different parties. We are a total supplier who can completely unburden you. Actually a full 360-degree function on everything in the field of non-food."

Want to speak to Bas and the rest of our enthusiastic team during Horecava? Stop by our stand! We will be in Hall 1 - Stand number 01.231.
